Drumbeat
by Derry Cotter
David McKay and his beautiful wife, Gwen, live in a comfortable apartment in an upmarket London suburb. A respected medical practitioner, David appears to have an enviable lifestyle. Behind the opulent façade, however, he is haunted by a dark secret from his school days. Redemption beckons when he decides to serve as a medical volunteer in Africa, but first he must overcome an obstacle that leaves him facing the most important decision of his life. Can he resist the temptation to salve his guilty conscience, or will he risk everything in a bid to exorcise the demons from his past?
Drumbeat is a story of love and devotion, of commitment, frailty and awakening. But the stakes have never been higher, as ruthless ambition and lust stoke a murderous desire for vengeance that threatens to subjugate the very essence of the human spirit.
Drumbeat is a new play from the creator of The Inheritance, Lee Side Story, Perverse and The Journey.
Cast: Peter Dineen, Denise Goggin, Anne Marie McMahon and Mike O’Keeffe.
Directed by John McCaffrey.
Tickets: €15
