Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th November 2021 @ 8pm

Cork One Act Theatre Festival

The annual Cork One Act Theatre Festival takes place once again at the Cork Arts Theatre from Wednesday 10th to Saturday 13th November 2021 at 8pm each night.

Theatre groups from around the country will gather over the four nights to compete for the all-important points in their bid to reach the All-Ireland One Act Final. Ten groups will stage a wide variety of plays showcasing the very best acting and directing talent. The competitive element makes for an electric atmosphere during the performances as the groups are evaluated by the adjudicator.

The adjudicator for the event is Irene O’Meara. She will have the onerous task of deciding the winning play and selecting the best actor, actress and director.

James Horgan, the Festival Director, said, “The Cork One Act Theatre Festival is always one of the highlights of the theatre calendar. The event always guarantees a great night out for theatre-goers as the groups that perform are of a high standard and, with ten plays to choose from, there is always plenty of variety.

Points are awarded to the top performing groups who will then take to the road and present their plays in other venues around the country with a view to gaining enough points to qualify for the All-Ireland Final in December. It’s an exciting event as the groups are very conscious of the fact that this is a competition and, as a result they must pull out all the stops.”
