THE VISION

The Cork Arts Theatre believes very strongly in supporting both new and advanced playwrights and reserves a large portion of its programme each year for the presentation of original works. We also assist writers in getting their scripts brought to life with our panel of directors and performers.

SHORT PLAY EVENTS

Since 2010 the Cork Arts Theatre has held the 10×10 Minute Play Event each Autumn. This event has grown over the years and now attracts submissions from playwrights all around the globe. The last event saw over 90 plays entered. Each year, we bring a talented group of directors, actors and crew together to stage 10 of the entries. The event, therefore, not only provides an opportunity for writers but also allows performers and creatives to hone their craft.

In 2015, we added another short play event to our calendar with our ‘Views from…’ series, held each Spring. For this event, writers are given a specific location to write for. In the past, these have included, ‘Views from a Bench… Hill… Balcony… Bar Stool…’. And once again, 10 of the submissions are staged each year.
