Tribes and Tribulations

by LINQ Drama

Tribes and Tribulations is a bold, heartfelt new work that brings queer women’s stories to centre stage — stories of love, laughter, friendship, and the sometimes messy, always beautiful journey toward self-acceptance.

Told through a collection of powerful, funny, and deeply human short plays, Tribes and Tribulations invites audiences into the many worlds of queer experience: the chaos of Pride night, the intimacy of love that defies convention, the fierce tenderness of chosen family, and the quiet strength found in community.

Each story reveals a different facet of what it means to find your tribe — that group of people who make you feel seen, safe, and celebrated. Through sharp wit, vulnerability, and joy, these women remind us that belonging isn’t about fitting in — it’s about standing proudly in who you are, surrounded by those who understand you.

With its mix of humour and heart, Tribes and Tribulations is a vibrant testament to queer women’s resilience, self-discovery, and the transformative power of community.

There’s no place like home — especially when you’ve finally found your people.

The drama group is a mixed bunch, different ages, experiences and nationalities. Some have been part of the lesbian community in Cork for decades while others have recently moved to Cork or are engaging with the community for the first time. Some have drama training and experience, while others are new to it all. All of our plays are written by the cast and director Sonya Matthews.

Previous sell out shows include Ordinary Love, The LWorld, Tales from the Queerside, Heroes, Hoes Killin’s and Villians, Stonewall and Then, Queer Code, Eve N Eve and Portal-OOH.
