Another evening of laughter, love… and food!
Following the success of last year’s ‘That’s Amore!’ event, it’s back again but now, imaginatively titled, ‘That’s Amore! (Too)’.
Once again we have five, very funny, short plays, each between 10 and 15 minutes long and all revolving around the theme of relationships (of sorts). And, to make the evening even more special, complimentary Italian antipasti is included in the ticket price and will be served after the show.
Most of the plays are brand new and so, will receive their world premieres at the event.
‘That’s Amore! (Too)’ brings together a wealth of Cork talent – writers, actors and crew – to create a wonderful night out at the theatre.
And the complimentary antipasti after the show allows audiences to really enjoy a taste of the Mediterranean right here in Cork.
Last year’s event sold out very quickly so early booking is advised.
Plays:
‘Weird’ by Joanne McCall introduces us to teenage misfit, Tilly, who is quite happy to not run with the crowd. Her classmates won’t let it rest there, however, and Peter has been goaded into striking up a conversation with Tilly. But there’s more to our social outcast than meets the eye.
‘Naggin’ by Síne Friel tells the hilarious tale of a bride and groom on the morning of their wedding day. Both of them, however, are having serious doubts. The problem is neither of them have told the other how they feel. With the wedding just minutes away, what will they do?
In ‘The Player’ by Catrin Hol, two women strike up a conversation in a local bar as one of them waits to meet her blind date. Unfortunately, it turns out that the other woman used to date him and all is not as it seems.
‘Three in a Bar’ by Eithne Horgan, is perhaps set in the same bar above, on a different evening. A woman of mature years sits alone having just given her blind date his marching orders for being too ‘friendly’. A kindly couple take pity on her and do their best to console her with extraordinary results.
The final play of the evening is ‘The Rental’ by Mark Harvey Levine. Sonya receives an extraordinary birthday present from her best friend – a rented, professional boyfriend. He’s the perfect man for her – but unfortunately he’s only there for a day.
Directed by James Horgan. Running time 1hour 20mins.
