SODS by Mike O’Dowd
With their father on his death bed, the three O’Mahony brothers decide to bag up and collect the remainder of the family turf reek. While out in the countryside, they reminisce and wax lyrical about childhood memories. This, however, slowly turns to feelings of bitterness and unaddressed resentment, as they begin paint a picture of a, not so perfect, loving parent but rather a complex and stubborn man, whose actions have gradually driven a rift between his three sons.
‘Sods’ is a one act drama that deals with brotherly bonding, the deceptive nature of nostalgia and how three brothers have been impacted in one way or another by their childhood and adult experiences with their father.
