From The River of Ghosts
Written and performed by Roger Gregg
From The River of Ghosts is an intimate love letter commemorating the lives of a working class family pursuing their dreams over several generations. With his distinctive baritone voice, Gregg narrates these intimate accounts of tragedy and triumph as he performs before a backdrop of old photo slides and home movies, accompanied by an evolving Americana soundscape, consisting of original live and recorded music. Over the course of the show, Gregg traces his family’s arrival in America in the 1860s, through the region’s great steel boom, experiencing the violence of the Ku Klux Klan riots of 1923 and his grandfather canoeing 900 miles down the Ohio river to the Mississippi. In this moving portrait spanning several generations, Gregg blends storytelling, poetry, music and song to create a haunting journey that will stay with you long after the hour is past.
Living in Ireland since 1980, Roger Gregg is an award winning playwright and performer who, for the last 40 years, has built a professional theatre career that has seen his work produced in the United States, Ireland, Germany, Canada and Australia.
