JACI (Jewish Arts and Culture Ireland) presents
From Kovno to Cobh
– a musical and poetic journey with special guest Lenny Abrahamson
An evening of music and words expressing the immigrant experience of the Irish-Jewish immigrants of the late 1800s and early 1900s.
JACI’s From Kovno to Cobh includes performances from international musicians and writers, now mostly resident in Ireland, and features a live interview with world-renowned Irish Jewish film director Lenny Abrahamson.
Performers include:
- Istvan Barnacz – Hungary, violin, and Brian Connor – Belfast, piano – Jewish classical and film music
- Simon Lewis – Carlow, poetry – from his collection Jewtown set in Cork
- Fresh Air Collective – Cork, London, Japan – Edel Sullivan (fiddle), Eileen Healy (guitar), Lucy Tasker (clarinet), Ruti Lachs (accordion) – klezmer and folk music
- Lenny Abrahamson – Dublin, film director – in conversation with Human Rights lawyer and JACI Chair Saul Woolfson
- Ruti Lachs – Crosshaven, Cork via Liverpool and Kerry, accordion, voice – original songs and klezmer music
- Sabri Handl – Argentina, Dublin, singer – tango
- Vivi Lachs – London – Yiddish song and story
- JACI Klezmer Ensemble
