Romance is a distant memory for two lonely animal-lovers living in Dublin. When forlorn Dan and his dog Chapatti cross paths with the amiable Betty and her nineteen cats, an unexpected spark begins a warm and gentle story about two people re-discovering the importance of human companionship.
Please note the play will be performed without an intermission and contains references to sensitive issues.

Chapatti was originally produced on stage by Northlight Theatre, Chicago, Illinois; BJ Jones, Artistic Director; Timothy J Evans, Executive Director. The play premiered on 7th March 2014 in a co-production with Galway Arts Festival.
Palace Players, based in Kilworth Co Cork, have been contesting festivals up and down the country since 1989. In 2015 Palace won the All-Ireland in Athlone with Tom Murphy’s ‘Conversations On A Homecoming’. In 2017, Palace took Malachy McKenna’s ‘The Quiet Land’, to All-Ireland One Act success. ‘Where Is This Malabar’, penned by the group’s founder, Liam Howard, won the One Act Play Writing competition in 2018. Palace Players were back on the 3-Act Circuit for 2020 and won The Rush Drama Festival and are delighted to continue that journey with Christian O’Reilly’s ‘Chapatti’. Mary Colbert and Sean Ahern are well known to Cork audiences and beyond, and look forward to bringing this gentle yet challenging play to such an intimate venue.

Please note we are now selling to 100% capacity as social distancing is no longer required at the venue.
- If you are feeling unwell or displaying any symptoms of Covid 19, we ask that you do not attend the theatre.
- Face masks must be worn. Please ensure you bring your own face mask with you when attending the theatre and that you are wearing it correctly.
- The theatre will be deep cleaned after each performance.
- Seating will be allocated so please check your ticket carefully.
- There is an ongoing enhanced cleaning routine in the venue including regular cleaning of door handles
- Weather permitting, audience members are advised to leave the building during the interval.
- Our staff have been updated on all the necessary procedures and policies so do please co-operate with their requests to ensure a pleasant experience for everyone.
