By the Light of the Silvery Moon
Following sold-out performances and widespread acclaim, award-winning storyteller, musician and modern-day seanchaí Aindrias de Staic brings his celebrated live production, By the Light of the Silvery Moon, to Cork Arts Theatre as part of a national tour.
The show breathes vibrant new life into Ireland’s ancient storytelling tradition through an unforgettable fusion of folklore, live music and theatrical performance.
Inspired by the great Irish bards—including Raifteirí an File, Brian Merriman and Aindrias Mac Cruitín—Aindrias takes audiences on a journey through myth, memory and the rich oral traditions of the West of Ireland. With rustic fiddle in hand and his unmistakable storytelling style, he conjures a world of forgotten villages, wandering musicians, mischievous spirits and otherworldly encounters, delivered with warmth, humour and irresistible theatrical energy.
Joining Aindrias on stage are acclaimed musicians Brian Fleming (percussion) and Aisling Lyons (harp), whose richly textured live score transforms each story into an immersive experience. Together, they create a captivating interplay of rhythm, melody and spoken word, weaving a sonic landscape that carries audiences from moments of laughter to mystery and wonder.
Rooted in tradition yet unmistakably contemporary, By the Light of the Silvery Moon is more than a performance—it’s an invitation into Ireland’s living heritage, where ancient tales find a new voice for modern audiences. Rich in folklore, music, and imagination, this is an evening of spellbinding storytelling that lingers long after the final note.
