SUMMARY:Eurydice
DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 11th – Saturday 14th September @ 8pm\nwith Relaxed Performance on Thursday 12th*\n\nEurydice\nby Sarah Ruhl\n\nOrpheus was the greatest musician in the world. His wife\, Eurydice\, died on their wedding day. Determined to bring her back\, Orpheus journeyed to the Underworld. Just before reaching the surface\, Orpheus looked back\, and Eurydice was lost forever. \nSarah Ruhl’s Eurydice revisits this myth from the heroine’s perspective. Blending magical realism with humour\, it portrays Eurydice’s journey as she navigates the Underworld and rediscovers her identity. \nThis playful new staging features original music by local artists as well as a cast comprised entirely of graduates and students from MTU Cork School of Music. \nEurydice – Ellie-Doris Fogarty\nFather – Ben Holman\nOrpheus – Davide Marrinelli\nNasty Interesting Man – Pierce Joseph\nBig Stone – Richie Broad\nLittle Stone – Ava Manning\nLoud Stone – Lotta Vainionpaa \nDirectors – Mollie Savage and Ben Holman\nSound Designer – Matthew Lucas\nStage Manager – John Clapham \nBand – Abe Gittins-Harris\, Niamh Hayes\, Sam Cullen\, Ben Holman and Matthew Lucas. \n*A relaxed performance of Eurydice will be held on Thursday\, September 12. \nThis accessible show caters to people with learning disabilities\, autism\, or anyone who benefits from a relaxed environment. \nFor more information\, contact: eurydicerelaxedperformance@gmail.com \n‘Eurydice’ is part of our Catalyst 2024 programme .
