SUMMARY:JUMP!?
DESCRIPTION: BACK BY POPULAR DEMAND\nTuesday 30th January – Saturday 3rd February 2024 @ 8.00pm\n\nJUMP!?\nWritten and performed by Pauline O’Driscoll\nDirected by Karen Minihan\n\nA Middle-Aged\, Coming-Of-Age play.\nHilarious\, Hor-mental\, Taboo Busting Comedy \nRecommended age 16+. Adult Themes & Sexual References. \nMonica is on the edge\, literally! She’s had enough\, of being nice and reasonable and sensible\, not to mention her temperamental fffing washing machine. She wants to scream and shout. She wants more… including but not limited to the perfect cocktail … of hormones! \nA bold\, truthful and delightfully comic leapfrog through all the taboo minefields of female hormones and sexuality from menstruation to menopause and everything in between. \n“Something has to change … to jump or not to jump that is the question!” \n“Am I mad or what? …… No! I’m just hor-mental!” \nConsummate actor Pauline O’Driscoll is best known on screen for Mustard\, Sisters\, Smalltown\, The Young Offenders and on stage for solo plays Seven Ages of MAM which she co-wrote and You Have It All Backwards. Jump!? is Pauline’s first solo self-penned play. \nWriter and artistic director of Playacting Theatre\, Karen Minihan has an extensive back catalogue of projects ranging from small\, intimate\, innovative productions to large\, all-inclusive\, community spectacles. She is also author of the book & subsequent show Extraordinary Ordinary Women\, which she and Pauline continue to tour to the many corners of West Cork and beyond. \nWhat audiences are saying about JUMP!? \n\n“An extraordinary piece and an extraordinary performance of it. An acting masterclass.”\n“I brought my wife. We both loved it. Men\, bring the women in your lives\, they’ll love you for it. Women\, bring the men in your lives they’ll laugh and maybe learn a thing or two at the same time!” \n“Absolutely incredible! Full of energy\, antics and stories of life and love and hormones.”\n“Side-splittingly funny. Passionate\, courageous and athletic! I can’t recommend JUMP!? enough.”\n“Absolutely fantastic! Brutally honest\, hilarious\, cringy\, sad and bursting with truths we all know!”\n“I’m still laughing!! Absolutely brilliant. I loved the acting\, the set\, the story. I loved it. I didn’t laugh like that for a long time”\n“What a play! A serious subject addressed with humanity and humour.”\n“Amazing.. absolutely terrific .. a really wonderful experience. Go if you can\, you won’t regret it.”\n“Funny\, thought provoking and informative and so funny… did we mention funny!! When need to book our husbands in.”\n“Pauline O’Driscoll is a legend! Fantastic show.”\n“Such an enjoyable and fantastic show\, laughed so much!”\n“My wife and I loved it\, we laughed\, we cringed. It made us want to see more theatre.”\n“I laughed so much my tummy hurt. It was fab .. Pauline was amazing. JUMP!? is brilliant.”\n“Absolutely brilliant. Very funny and worthy of the standing ovation”\n“A tonic! A great night’s entertainment!”  \n\nWhat the critics say about Seven Ages of MAM: \n“MUST SEE SHOW… wondrously inventive … hilariously detailed … O’Driscoll can call down the angels in a light high tessitura – a whisper away from silence\, and she can … roar like a banshee. …….. master of pause and sudden tangent\, the surprise monologue\, the squirm of embarrassment\, the language of love and forgiveness and letting go. What O’Driscoll brings even more than humour is sudden abiding grief. And what she gets more than grief is life-affirming humour\, and what she gets most is utter exhaustion … No\, she’s of a piece. This is consummately acted\, wholly believable\, the most original riff on the Seven Ages I’ve seen … in short\, SEE IT” – Simon Jenner\, FringeReview \n“The audience hung on every word and went willingly on a roller coaster ride of emotions masterfully orchestrated by Pauline O’Driscoll … a terrific show\, funny\, heart-rending and jam-packed full of relevance and social commentary … a powerful\, beautifully nuanced\, mesmerizing performance”  – Denis Walsh\, Listowel Advertiser \nDirected by Karen Minihan \nSet Design by Hannah Bethan Lane \nProjection + Sound Design by Cormac O’Connor \nLighting Design by Jamie Feehily \n  \nTickets:  €15\n*Booking fees apply.\nDiscounts available for students and groups of 6+.
