It presents a masterly\, exaggerated picture not only of the playwright himself but of his whole household\, his court\, his admirers\, his lifestyle and his era. \nThe plot depicts a few days in the life of the successful and self-obsessed light comedy actor Garry Essendine as he prepares to travel for a touring commitment in Africa. Amid a series of events bordering on farce\, Garry has to deal with women who want to seduce him\, placate both his long suffering secretary and his wife\, cope with a crazed young playwright\, and overcome his impending mid-life crisis. The character is a caricature of the author’s real-life persona\, as Coward acknowledged. \nThe production is produced by Ian McGuirk\, directed by Mary Curtin and features an all-star Cork cast: Shirley McCarthy\, Ann Dorgan\, Rebecca Allman\, Ian McGuirk\, Marie O Donovan\, Oskar Smith\, Jim O Mahony\, Jean Van Sinderen-Law\, and Kenneth Speight! \nLighting Designer: Alan MooneySet Designer: Elisa Gallo Rosso \nTickets: €20 \n[/cmsmasters_text][cmsmasters_button shortcode_id=”qec1dz384c” button_link=”https://www.ticketsource.eu/corkartstheatre/present-laughter/e-xejedr” button_target=”blank” button_text_align=”left” button_font_weight=”bold” button_font_style=”default” button_text_transform=”default” button_border_style=”default” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_text_color_h=”#ffffff” animation_delay=”0″]Book Tickets[/cmsmasters_button]\n[cmsmasters_divider shortcode_id=”wmeid4k6l5″ width=”long” height=”1″ position=”center” margin_top=”50″ margin_bottom=”50″ animation_delay=”0″]\n[cmsmasters_text shortcode_id=”mxxecr6n3p” animation_delay=”0″]\nYOUR SAFE VISIT \n\nIn line with government guidelines announced on 28 February\, all performances will operate at full capacity.\nCovid Certification is no longer required for entry\, and the wearing of masks is not compulsory. SUMMARY:10x10 Minute Play Event
DESCRIPTION:[cmsmasters_row][cmsmasters_column data_width=”1/1″][cmsmasters_text]\n \n \n \n[/cmsmasters_text][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row][cmsmasters_row data_width=”fullwidth” data_padding_left=”5″ data_padding_right=”5″ data_top_style=”default” data_bot_style=”default” data_color=”default”][cmsmasters_column data_width=”1/1″ data_border_style=”default”][cmsmasters_text]\n10 New Plays\, 100 Minutes of Great Theatre\nTuesday 29th November to Saturday 3rd December @ 8pm   \n“Our very popular short play event is back!”\nIt has been 3 long years since our last 10×10 Minute Play Event because of that pesky pandemic but the event is back stronger than ever! Booking is very brisk so we recommend you book early to avoid missing this very entertaining event. \nThe event has proved immensely popular with audiences and performers alike over the years and\, once again\, we will have ten mini-plays each evening with something to suit all tastes. Audiences will also get to vote for their favourite play of the evening which adds to the sense of occasion. \nWe are delighted to be able to say that this event has grown from its humble beginnings to become one of the most popular shows in our annual programme. There was huge interest again this year from writers both nationally and internationally with over 100 plays submitted. Our panel of readers are currently hard at work poring over all the entries and will eventually whittle these down to the final 10 plays to be staged. As in previous years\, we are sure that the final ten plays will prove to be wonderful examples of what can be achieved on stage in a short space of time with a well-crafted script. \nThe event continues to be an important fund-raiser for the Cork Arts Theatre and it wouldn’t be possible without everyone giving of their time so generously. Our audiences\, too\, deserve our sincere thanks as\, each year\, they attend the event in great numbers\, with most performances selling out! \nWe are looking forward to another week of great theatre with a wealth of fabulous Cork talent at\, what we like to call\, ‘The Little Theatre with a Big Heart’.” \n\nThe ten pieces that will be performed at this year’s 10 x 10 Minute Play Event are:\n \n\n\nACT 1\n‘All The Coats’ by Carol Long – Director: David McCall\n‘Lies I’ve Told My Dog’ by Scott Mullen – Director: Denis Kiely\n‘Feis Moms’ by Jonathan Hughes – Director: Dolores Dermody\n‘Santa Secret’ by F.J.
