SUMMARY:The Comedy Improvised Halloween Murder Mystery
DESCRIPTION:[cmsmasters_row data_color=”default” data_bot_style=”default” data_top_style=”default” data_padding_right=”5″ data_padding_left=”5″ data_width=”fullwidth”][cmsmasters_column data_width=”1/1″ data_border_style=”default”][cmsmasters_text]\n‘Horror Hotel’\nStarring: Laura O’Mahony (CCCahoots\, RTE’s ‘Bridget and Eamonn’ and ‘The School’)\, Annette Roche and Laura Harte (The Improv Panto)\, Adrian Scanlan (Snatch Comedy) and John McCarthy (RTE’s ‘The School’ and Hammergrin Theatre).\nDevised by James Horgan. \nThe Comedy Improvised Murder Mystery Gang are back again with their hilarious ‘off the cuff’ antics for three nights only at the Cork Arts Theatre from Thursday 25th October. \nNow in its 8th year\, the show is entirely improvised and with no script to fall back on the actors must create the entire plot with its many twists and turns on the spot. As usual\, things get out of hand pretty quickly with deadly (and hilarious) consequences. \nThe audience must play their part each night too and they will secretly decide beforehand who the unfortunate victim and the mysterious murderer will be. And they will also provide hilarious ‘secrets’ that the cast read out at random moments to add mayhem and mirth to the proceedings. All of this is completed before the show starts so that the audience can then sit back\, relax and enjoy the ensuing mayhem. \nBringing the various characters to life each evening is the task for the very talented Cork cast members. Their experience in comedy improvisation will ensure that the audience won’t have time to catch their breath. \nThe production is devised by Cabal Theatre Company director\, James Horgan\, who says of the show\, “Due to both its improvised nature and the audience ‘secrets’ the show is completely different each time it’s performed. This year ‘the gang” turn up at a very shady hotel and it soon becomes apparent that all is not as it seems – especially not our various characters!” \nSo\, with audience suggestions\, random musical cues and no script in sight\, ‘The Comedy Improvised Halloween Murder Mystery’ is set to be a deliciously chaotic and hilarious evening’s entertainment and one of the season’s comedy highlights. \nTickets sell out very quickly for this show and\, with just 3 performances\, we advise booking as early as possible. \nTickets: €17\, €13 conc.\, Groups of 8 or more €12\n \nAdministration fee on phone and online bookings. \n[/cmsmasters_text][cmsmasters_button shortcode_id=”a61ya833j” button_link=”https://www.ticketsource.eu/corkartstheatre/events” button_target=”blank” button_text_align=”left” button_style=”cmsmasters_but_bg_hover” button_font_weight=”bold” button_font_style=”default” button_text_transform=”none” button_border_style=”default” button_bg_color=”#b58e4f” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_bg_color_h=”#000000″ button_text_color_h=”#ffffff” animation_delay=”0″]BOOK NOW[/cmsmasters_button][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row]

A sentimental story about sacrifice and escape. \nIt’s 1938 and as war comes calling so do her dreams. Choosing to fight her own battles\, Polly leaves Cork behind for New York. But will the non-conventional route be make or break for the Douglas girl? \nWith dreams of being a singer\, New York proves to be a tough port of call for the young Irish woman who has fallen quickly in love with jazz music. But when Polly meets fellow Corkonian Johnnie in the big apple everything seems possible again. \nStarring Jessica Leen and Darragh Shannon. \n“Leen has an impressive emotional range as Polly\, and performing her own jazz score she displays a fairly dazzling voice…” – Emer O’Kelly\, Sunday Independent \n“Impressively channeling the quintessential essence of the classic jazz standard\, with Leen’s superb vocals capable of giving Melody Gardot a run at times.” – The Arts Review \n“Johnny is ferocious in Shannon’s immensely detailed performance..” – Exeunt Magazine \n“..alongside its immense sense of promise\, “Two of Clubs” both delights and breaks your heart a little\, crafting some sublime moments..” – The Arts Review \nTickets: €14\, €12 concessions * \n(*Please contact the Box Office on 021 4505624 for Concession Tickets) \n  \n[/cmsmasters_text][cmsmasters_button shortcode_id=”a61ya833j” button_link=”https://www.ticketsource.eu/corkartstheatre/events” button_target=”blank” button_text_align=”left” button_style=”cmsmasters_but_bg_hover” button_font_weight=”bold” button_font_style=”default” button_text_transform=”none” button_border_style=”default” button_bg_color=”#b58e4f” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_bg_color_h=”#000000″ button_text_color_h=”#ffffff” animation_delay=”0″]BOOK NOW[/cmsmasters_button][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row]

Not to be missed.“\n★★★★ The Arts Review \nFrom their sold out run at the Cork Midsummer Festival and a very successful outing at Dublin Fringe Festival\, Wandering Star are back once again with Lex Talionis (A Tale of Vengeance & Feathers) by Liam Heylin. \nHugh’s a rook with chicks comin’. Mooney’s a younger rook whose new friend Max is not what they seem. Dónie’s a magpie\, he’s bad news. After a vicious murder\, one of them is out for blood. There will be vengeance. That’s what the weird Latin title means – the law of retaliation\, an eye for an eye\, like. \nWandering Star brings together the creative team of Katrina Foley\, Jamie Feehily\, and Aoife Clarke and the acting talents of Aisling McCarthy\, Sinéad Donnelly\, Sinéad McGee and Bláithín MacGabhann. \nThis play contains strong language and some mild violence. \nTickets: €15\, €12 concession\nAdministration fee on phone and online bookings. \nThis production is supported by the Cork Arts Theatre / Arts Council New and Emerging Theatre Artists Fund. \n \n[/cmsmasters_text][cmsmasters_button shortcode_id=”a61ya833j” button_link=”https://www.ticketsource.eu/corkartstheatre/events” button_target=”blank” button_text_align=”left” button_style=”cmsmasters_but_bg_hover” button_font_weight=”bold” button_font_style=”default” button_text_transform=”none” button_border_style=”default” button_bg_color=”#b58e4f” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_bg_color_h=”#000000″ button_text_color_h=”#ffffff” animation_delay=”0″]BOOK NOW[/cmsmasters_button][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row]

SUMMARY:That's Amore (Too)
DESCRIPTION:[cmsmasters_row data_width=”fullwidth” data_padding_left=”5″ data_padding_right=”5″ data_top_style=”default” data_bot_style=”default” data_color=”default”][cmsmasters_column data_width=”1/1″][cmsmasters_text]\nAnother evening of laughter\, love… and food!\nFollowing the success of last year’s ‘That’s Amore!’ event\, it’s back again but now\, imaginatively titled\, ‘That’s Amore! (Too)’. \nOnce again we have five\, very funny\, short plays\, each between 10 and 15 minutes long and all revolving around the theme of relationships (of sorts). And\, to make the evening even more special\, complimentary Italian antipasti is included in the ticket price and will be served after the show. \nMost of the plays are brand new and so\, will receive their world premieres at the event. \n‘That’s Amore! (Too)’ brings together a wealth of Cork talent – writers\, actors and crew – to create a wonderful night out at the theatre. \nAnd the complimentary antipasti after the show allows audiences to really enjoy a taste of the Mediterranean right here in Cork. \nLast year’s event sold out very quickly so early booking is advised. \nPlays: \n‘Weird’ by Joanne McCall introduces us to teenage misfit\, Tilly\, who is quite happy to not run with the crowd. Her classmates won’t let it rest there\, however\, and Peter has been goaded into striking up a conversation with Tilly. But there’s more to our social outcast than meets the eye. \n‘Naggin’ by Síne Friel tells the hilarious tale of a bride and groom on the morning of their wedding day. Both of them\, however\, are having serious doubts. The problem is neither of them have told the other how they feel. With the wedding just minutes away\, what will they do? \nIn ‘The Player’ by Catrin Hol\, two women strike up a conversation in a local bar as one of them waits to meet her blind date. Unfortunately\, it turns out that the other woman used to date him and all is not as it seems. \n‘Three in a Bar’ by Eithne Horgan\, is perhaps set in the same bar above\, on a different evening. A woman of mature years sits alone having just given her blind date his marching orders for being too ‘friendly’. A kindly couple take pity on her and do their best to console her with extraordinary results. \nThe final play of the evening is ‘The Rental’ by Mark Harvey Levine. Sonya receives an extraordinary birthday present from her best friend – a rented\, professional boyfriend. He’s the perfect man for her – but unfortunately he’s only there for a day. \nDirected by James Horgan. Running time 1hour 20mins. \nTickets: €15 \nAdministration fee on phone and online bookings. \n[/cmsmasters_text][cmsmasters_button shortcode_id=”a61ya833j” button_link=”https://www.ticketsource.eu/corkartstheatre/events” button_target=”blank” button_text_align=”left” button_style=”cmsmasters_but_bg_hover” button_font_weight=”bold” button_font_style=”default” button_text_transform=”none” button_border_style=”default” button_bg_color=”#b58e4f” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_bg_color_h=”#000000″ button_text_color_h=”#ffffff” animation_delay=”0″]BOOK NOW[/cmsmasters_button][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row]

Themes of the play include love\, loss\, revenge and the nature of humanity. From the beginning of the piece it is clear this character is not to be taken lightly\, as he casually claims that “in the grander scheme of things” the story he is about to tell\, is “much deeper than the murder of a young woman”. \nHaving had its premiere at Under St. Marks in Greenwich Village\, New York City\, the piece has now evolved from a minimalist work into an exciting full-scale production which promises to entertain\, engage and\, who knows\, perhaps even enlighten. \nRobert Power is also an established musician whose work has been described by Ireland’s Hotpress Magazine as “powerful\, heartfelt and thought-provoking”. A Story Of Destiny is set to embark on a national tour and this solo performance\, from an actor who is described as “a superbly gifted performer” by Olivier Award Winner and established London based theatre director\, Donnacadh O Briain\, is not to be missed. \n“Wonderful. Coup de Théâtre.” – The Munster Express\n“Intense. Engrossing. Thought-provoking.” – The Nationalist\n“An incredible performance.” – The Kilkenny People\n“A gripping thriller\, full of beauty and eeriness\, performed with unstoppable energy.” – The Wexford People \nFor more details on the show please visit the social media links at www.robertpower.com \nhttps://youtu.be/Q2Sb0S7E0LM \nTickets: €12 / €10 conc. \nAdministration fee on phone and online bookings. \n[/cmsmasters_text][cmsmasters_button shortcode_id=”s1d2k2383b” button_link=”https://www.ticketsource.eu/corkartstheatre/events” button_target=”blank” button_text_align=”left” button_style=”cmsmasters_but_bg_hover” button_font_weight=”bold” button_font_style=”default” button_text_transform=”none” button_border_style=”default” button_bg_color=”#b58e4f” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_bg_color_h=”#000000″ button_text_color_h=”#ffffff” animation_delay=”0″]BOOK NOW[/cmsmasters_button][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row]
