I may sometimes forget the words\, but I always remember the tune.” \nYou come to realise that the mind of someone with Alzheimer’s can bring joy and teach you to live in the moment. Although they can no longer make memories\, you can still relish the moment you share with them. \nDolores\, who has been Artistic director of Cork Arts Theatre for over twenty years\, trained as an Actress with the Lyric in Belfast. She is responsible for many of the innovations at Cork Arts Theatre: Cork Rep\, the Emerging Artists programme\, the Lunch/Supper seasons and the Creative Empowerment Programme. Dolores has directed over 120 plays including Over the Pub\, The Cage\, We Were There\, and The Good Doctor. Many will remember Dolores in her one woman show Belfast Shirley. \nHer gift of storytelling\, she says\, came most certainly from her mother. \n“The drama was human and funny… I laughed\, and I came close to tears with a heg in my heart\, but there was also a hug\, an embrace of shared memories\, fleeting memories\, memories almost forgotten but remembered in all their wonder and sadness. There was within this play the drama of love and misfortune\, that sense of resilience\, family resilience of coping\, of making memories and making better.”– Liam Murphy\, Munster Express \n[/cmsmasters_text][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row][cmsmasters_row][cmsmasters_column data_width=”1/1″][cmsmasters_text]\n  \n[/cmsmasters_text][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row][cmsmasters_row][cmsmasters_column data_width=”1/1″][cmsmasters_text]\n \n \n \n \n[/cmsmasters_text][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row][cmsmasters_row][cmsmasters_column data_width=”1/1″][cmsmasters_text]\n  \n[/cmsmasters_text][/cmsmasters_column][/cmsmasters_row]

Mortimer Brewster is a drama critic who is juggling his “crazy” family\, including what appears to be two harmless aunts\, a rather incompetent local police force\, all the while trying to marry Elaine\, the woman he loves. \nThe director and founder of Stage It Productions\, Finola Doyle O’Neill has adapted the play to a more ‘genteel’ British setting\, replacing wine with copious cups of tea\, while still maintaining its wartime setting and its unrivalled humour. \nCAST IN ALPHABETICAL ORDER:Eric Browne: Mortimer BrewsterBruce Coleman: Winston BrewsterAdriana Dinneen: Dr EinsteinEithne Horgan: Martha BrewsterMike Keep: Jonathan BrewsterBer Madden: Abbey BrewsterJim O’Mahony: Reverend HarperKaren Ray: Elaine HarperMichelle Sheehan: Constable BrophyFred Spengeman: Officer O’HaraPRODUCTION CREW:Finola Doyle O’Neill: DirectorDolores Dermody: ProducerSharon Lynch: Stage ManagerRoss O’Neill: Lighting and Sound \nRunning time: 2 hours 25 min including interval \nTickets: €18 \n[/cmsmasters_text][cmsmasters_button shortcode_id=”qec1dz384c” button_link=”https://www.ticketsource.eu/corkartstheatre/arsenic-and-old-lace/e-gkgmje” button_target=”blank” button_text_align=”left” button_font_weight=”bold” button_font_style=”default” button_text_transform=”default” button_border_style=”default” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_text_color_h=”#ffffff” animation_delay=”0″]Book Tickets[/cmsmasters_button]\n[cmsmasters_divider shortcode_id=”wmeid4k6l5″ width=”long” height=”1″ position=”center” margin_top=”50″ margin_bottom=”50″ animation_delay=”0″]\n[cmsmasters_text shortcode_id=”mxxecr6n3p” animation_delay=”0″]\nYOUR SAFE VISIT \n\nIn line with government guidelines announced on 28 February\, all performances will operate at full capacity.\nCovid Certification is no longer required for entry\, and the wearing of masks is not compulsory. We’re not sure where they are exactly\, but they are about to run the race of their lives\, today! \n‘This’ is a runner. She knows what a marathon entails\, but she’s trained and trained and feels ready to go. ‘That’ on the other hand\, has not been training. He’d probably rather be anywhere else\, but he’s here now and he does look great in running shorts\, so he might as well just go for it. \nThis\, That & The Other is a play about marathons\, but it’s also a play about the hectic pace of modern life. Written as two overlapping monologues\, This\, That & The Other is an energetic\, rhythmic\, yet strangely familiar tale about the time we have and how we choose to spend it. It’s about why we run and what we might be running away from. \nThe performance on Wednesday night will be followed by a Q&A with the creative team – Pádraig O’ Connor (writer/director)\, Ben Waddell (actor) & Maeve Bradley (actor). Anyway come see him fall apart and pick himself back together in the time it takes to have a mini midlife crisis.“Genuinely hilarious from start to finish” – Bunbury Magazine (Edinburgh Fringe 2018) \n“High energy and bat shit crazy” – Fresh Air Radio (Edinburgh Fringe 2015) \n“Incredibly funny and engaging” – The Examiner \n“A Bird in the Hand” is part of the Summer Lunchtime and Supper Theatre season than runs through July and August at Cork Arts Theatre. \nTICKETS: \nLUNCHTIME: €13 includes light lunch (of either soup or sandwich) and show. Perhaps it’s time again for the quiet (and sometimes not so quiet) wisdom of the Hairdresser who knows life in terms of what every head needs as the world moves from one rite of passage to the next!! \nBut for her\, it’s all about the mother of the bride (or MOB!!) as she tries to set the world to rights by shaping the only thing she has any real control over\, someone else’s hair! \nIn a space that’s too small for her with two phones too many\, making appointments in an old empty diary from a previous year that she can’t see the point of throwing out (“if you just go by the date and ignore the day…) she plays out the magic of transformation in the only way that she can\, in a world where most people feel stuck most of the time. \nBut sooner or later it must\, by necessity\, be her own turn to sit in the ‘magic chair’ and take a look in the mirror… and then there’s that text from her sister-in-law in Malaga… who hopes to visit… today!!!!! \n“The Hairdresser’s Calendar” is part of the Summer Lunchtime and Supper Theatre season than runs through July and August at Cork Arts Theatre. \nTICKETS: \nLUNCHTIME: €13 includes light lunch (of either soup or sandwich) and show. The guitar is his favoured instrument to mirror the melodic and rhythmic intricacies of the Americas’ cultural diversity. \nBefore moving to England\, Dickinson Cárdenas took lessons with Eduardo. Since then\, their friendship\, idiosyncratic empathy and mutual respect have transformed into a vehicle that connects\, incorporates\, juxtaposes their different generations\, musical ideas and ultimately a spiritual journey that drives this unique duo. \nThis show\, The Bridge\, compiles some of Grammy nominee composer Eduardo’s most alluring works for two guitars: classical styles merged with rock and son montunos; old Yoruba chants or feel-good rumbas with funk- boleros\, and new age tunes and cinematic pieces sitting alongside Cuban tumbaos with slap bass. \nThe Bridge is a celebration of the past and present of the many traditions enriching the Latin guitar\, conveying a true sense of continuity and fluidity through its tunes. \nTickets: €18\, €15 conc. \n[/cmsmasters_text][cmsmasters_button shortcode_id=”qec1dz384c” button_link=”https://www.ticketsource.eu/corkartstheatre/the-bridge-eduardo-martin-ahmed-dickenson/e-epkear” button_target=”blank” button_text_align=”left” button_font_weight=”bold” button_font_style=”default” button_text_transform=”default” button_border_style=”default” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_text_color_h=”#ffffff” animation_delay=”0″]Book Tickets[/cmsmasters_button]\n[cmsmasters_divider shortcode_id=”wmeid4k6l5″ width=”long” height=”1″ position=”center” margin_top=”50″ margin_bottom=”50″ animation_delay=”0″]\n[cmsmasters_text shortcode_id=”mxxecr6n3p” animation_delay=”0″]\nGUIDELINES FOR ATTENDING SHOWS \nWe would like to bring your attention to the following measures that we have put in place to ensure a safe and comfortable experience for all our patrons\, as well as the artists and the staff at Cork Arts Theatre. The house is like a scene from the Great Gatsby. Only this is West Cork so minus the glamour and good-looking people.” \nAt her mother’s wake Lily suffers her way through the sea of Auntie Rachel’s sandwiches\, cousin Aileen’s juicing recipes and Aoibheann’s woodland theme wedding plans\, until an old face from her past arrives. Rapidly changing into her x-rated top and revelling in the disapproving whispers from the neighbours\, Lily is not your typical mourner. She will not let the night that’s in it thwart her plans. \nWritten and Performed by: Irene KelleherDirected by: Geoff GouldDesign by: Cormac O’ConnorSet Design by: Davy DummiganPhotography by: Marcin Lewandowski @soundofphotography.com \nAge Suitability: 14+Running Time: 60min – no interval \nTickets: €15\, €12 concessions \n[/cmsmasters_text][cmsmasters_button shortcode_id=”qec1dz384c” button_link=”https://www.ticketsource.eu/corkartstheatre/wake/e-jraddq” button_target=”blank” button_text_align=”left” button_font_weight=”bold” button_font_style=”default” button_text_transform=”default” button_border_style=”default” button_text_color=”#ffffff” button_text_color_h=”#ffffff” animation_delay=”0″]Book Tickets[/cmsmasters_button]\n[cmsmasters_divider shortcode_id=”wmeid4k6l5″ width=”long” height=”1″ position=”center” margin_top=”50″ margin_bottom=”50″ animation_delay=”0″]\n[cmsmasters_text]\nThis production is part of our Creative Empowerment Programme 2022 – ten productions that push boundaries\, open minds and give voice to those who are too often excluded or silenced.
