A bold, new adventure
In April 2012, we established the Cork Arts Theatre Repertory Company with the aim of providing local actors with local, paid work.
At the time of the launch, Dolores Mannion, Artistic Director, stated, “There is a wealth of talented performers in Cork who can match the best in the country in terms of quality performances. At the Cork Arts Theatre we have a wonderful facility at our disposal so it made sense to provide a much-needed outlet for that talent and give Cork audiences some top-notch entertainment at the same time.”
The company has gone on to do just that with 7 productions in its first year. The interest from theatre professionals and audiences alike has been extraordinary.
The long-term ambition for the company is that, with appropriate funding, a full-time professional company can be based at the theatre in order to present a regular programme of plays for Cork audiences with the highest of production values.
Cork Rep would like to thank all of the directors who gave freely of their time in order to give the company the best possible start. Your support is very much appreciated.
